Bill will limit industrys plans for a 411 service for cell phones

Monday November 24, 2003
A bill being introduced in Congress this week by a Republican congressman will limit the ability of cell phone companies to add your cellular number to a wireless 411, planned for the upcoming year. The bill would require carriers to get your consent before listing your number and they could not impose a fee if you wanted your number to remain unpublished. Cell phone companies expect to generate billions in additional revenue by charging one dollar for each query. (source)
