Verizon Wireless starts mobile IM compatible with 3 major systems

Wednesday December 17, 2003
Instant messaging on cell phones has existed for years, but only some cell phones would offer it, and it was limited to one system (mostly AOL IM). But yesterday, Verizon announced that users of the LG VX6000 camera phone will be able to download a free application that lets them use AOL, MSN or Yahoo Messenger so no matter the system you use, you'll be able to IM while on the move. Don't start instant messaging like you do on your PC though, since at 10 cents a message, your bill is going to go up, ahem... instantly.
