Nokia announces sports phone... without GPS!

Monday February 2, 2004
Nice effort from Nokia to launch the Nokia 5140, a sports-oriented phone with an integrated flashlight and a digital compass and a "Nokia Fitness Monitor" accessory. But, silly enough, GPS functionality will have to be purchased separately! I'm not very impressed, especially that as early as 2000, Benefon already had GPS-enabled phone with on-screen mapping. The Nokia 5140 will only be available later this year and the company did not mention if it will be available for the North-American market.
