Massachusetts Cell Phone Bill Of Rights On The Grill

Tuesday October 11, 2005
Cellular customers in Massachusetts may have a "Bill of Rights" that would confere them many advantadges: Carriers would be required to allow them 30 days to cancel a contract without penalties and limit contracts to one year. The state would also have the right to monitor service quality and make the data available to consumers.

For obscure reasons, carriers claim that the bill will "make them all the same" and limit competition but consumer groups foresee the opposite and think that this will make it easier for consumers to determine the right choice for them.
