eMarketer Report: 111,000 Italians Relied On Mobile TV During World Cup

Monday July 31, 2006
The Samsung P900, a mobile TV enabled cel phoneThe World Cup helped jump start mobile TV in Italia, as 111,000 italians subscribed to the service during that period. Unlike mobile video offerings currently available in North America -- which are sparse and limited to pre-selected clips only -- mobile TV lets you view real time live TV, making it possible for italian subscribers to watch their team climb to the top wherever they were.

New handsets compatible with one of a variety of mobile TV formats are progressively introduced, such as the LG V900 or the Samsung P900 (our illustration) but no North American carrier offers mobile TV yet.
