FasTap Keyboard? Not That Fast, Finds Phonescoop.com
Tuesday August 29, 2006
The guys at Phonescoop.com tested the FasTap keyboard on the new LG AX490, the first phone with FasTap in the U.S. (The technology was introduced in a Canadian phone about 2 years ago but didn't catch up so much). With small letter keys inserted between number keys, it seems like FasTap could be faster, but after 10 days of use, the guys at Phonescoop still couldn't type faster with it than with standard Predictive text input (found on most cell phones). They documented their experience in a video.
My 2 cents on their experiment?: Very interesting, but it's worth mentioning that Predictive text input works well with predictable words. But when it comes to typing exotic words such as my over-complicated family name, Bernatchez, or acronyms like HSDPA, then FasTap, SureType and full keyboards may come in surprisingly handy.

Fast tap keyboard? That is quite interesting. And at the sound of its name, I bet it is pretty handy and expensive too.
