Verizon Wants To Offer Streaming TV On Phones Before April

Sunday January 7, 2007
CES 2007 - Verizon Wireless announced today that they will offer streaming mobile TV using the MediaFlow technology, one of a handful of systems promising to bring live TV to handsets, not just a restricted selection such as those currently offered by most carriers. Verizon will broadcast live TV shows from NBC, CBS and other popular networks.

Users will need special MediaFlow-enabled handsets such as the LG VX9400, announced today. The VX9400 has a display that swings horizontally to create a typical landscape viewing experience and TV buttons. Another compatible phone, the Samsung Mobi, will be offered later.

Cell phone streaming TV is currently gaining a lot of momentum and other carriers are likely to announce similar intiatives in 2007.
