Rumor In Pakistan: A Human Virus Travels By Text Message

Thursday April 26, 2007
Open a text message and there you go into the great unknown. A rumor currently spreading in Pakistan claims that if you open a text message from certain numbers, a virus will kill you (not your phone) instantly.

Too absurd to be even slightly believed do you think? Yet, Newspapers and TV stations were flooded with questions from worried consumers, according to the Chicago Tribune.

#1. I’m really REALLY sorry that you get our FOX network there :( Hell, I’m sorry that WE get it too.

#2. Americans are stupid, but we aren’t THAT stupid. The fact is (and we LOVE facts over here) that it is absolutely, unquestionably impossible for a human virus to be spread via cell phone text message. There is no organic connection and, as organic entities, one would be required.

Unfortunately Americans WILL stay glued to the television in hopes of more crap about Anna Nicole’s baby, so I can see why you would think that we are that stupid.
