Sprint Announces $99 Simply Everything Plan
by Shane McGlaun
When Sprint announced the bad financials today they also announced something that could be good for some users—a $99 Simply Everything Plan. The plan really does include everything with unlimited voice, data, text, email, Internet access, Sprint TV, Sprint Music, GPS Navigation, Direct Connect and Group Connect services.
Sprint says the new plan will be available to customer s starting tomorrow. "This is a bold, unprecedented move," said Dan Hesse, president and CEO, Sprint Nextel. "Wireless today is about much more than just voice. It is about data services - texting, email, video, pictures, music, navigation, surfing the Web and more. Customers want these applications, but without complexity and without having to worry about their bill. The $99.99 Simply Everything plan delivers it all right to the palm of their hand now.
Sprint says its new plan is available to customers on both Sprint’s CDMA and iDEN networks. Families can add additional users with a $5 discount per plan added. That doesn’t mean you can share the unlimited minutes for an additional $5. Rather each plan you add gets $5 off the $99 price, so two family members would cost $194.98.
You would have to be a very heavy talker to justify the cost of this plan in my book. My family and I have four phones on a family plan with AT&T and we never run out of minutes and we are heavy talkers and don’t have a wired home phone. The four phones share 800 minutes and we continue to roll over around 1200 minutes month to month at a price less than the $99 a month for all of us. Those who would get the biggest benefit from this plan would be really high volume business users.
