CECT C7000A Cell Phone Monitors Your Heart
by Shane McGlaun
Odd features are not uncommon on cellular phones that come out of Asia, like the robot phone we talked about earlier this week. Chinese cell phone maker CECT has a new handset called the C7000A that some users will want to take to heart—literally.
The main feature of the phone is the ability to perform a cardiograph on the user that can be sent to a doctor via MMS and a GPRS network. According to CECT the doctor can then get the cardiogram and respond to the patient via text message and if needed call the patient directly.
Exactly how this cardiograph function operates is unknown; the press release about the handset goes into no detail on the feature. The phone also claims an ultra-long standby time of 120 days. The LCD screen is 3-inches and the C7000A can store up to 500 phone numbers in its memory. CECT says the first 200 trial units were given to The Peoples Insurance Company of China, which plans on giving the handsets away to its biggest customers. No additional information on the handset is available at this time.
