Report says More Advertisers Deploying Mobile Coupons

Monday March 10, 2008

by Shane McGlaun

It seems like I am deluged with coupons and for the most part I don’t use them. Sure I’ll go for the occasional $4.99 haircut or the $9.99 large single topping pizza but for the most part I’m not interested in coupons.

A new report from JupiterResearch says that a full 30% of consumers are interested in getting coupons on their cell phones. This seems to be at odds with the actual number of consumers JupiterResearch says currently use mobile coupons at a whopping 1%.

Personally I think mobile coupons coming to my cell phone would be one rung up from spam, it’s just not something I am interested in. I guess some out there will be all giddy with excitement over the thought of mobile coupons. The current systems for redeaming mobile coupons are also unwieldy to use and if the caliber of cashiers at your local Wal-mart is anything like the ones in my area, I doubt seriously you could use the coupons.
