Alltel Gets LG Glimmer Tomorrow

Wednesday March 12, 2008

by Shane McGlaun

Alltel announced today that starting tomorrow it would be offering the LG Glimmer mobile phone to its customers. The Glimmer features a slide-out keypad and a touch-screen interface similar to the Apple iPhone.

The Glimmer features a 2MP camera with the ability to shoot both still images and video. The phone also features a MP3 player with a customizable EQ and a slot to expand the memory of the phone.

If you tend to get lost a lot the Glimmer also offers GPS capability and can use the Alltel Navigation, Axcess Search, CityID and Axcess TV features. LG says the Glimmer also supports 3D graphics and has 128MB of internal memory. That should mean the Glimmer is good for playing mobile games and watching video on the go. The Glimmer will sell for $249.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate. That price seems a bit high considering you can get the market leading iPhone for the same before rebate price. Then if you are stuck with Alltel service for some reason, that won’t matter much.
