TapRoot WalkingHotSpot Turns Smart Phones into Hot Spots

I can’t tell you how many times I have been out with my smart phone and my notebook and wished that I could share the wireless data connection from my cell phone with my notebook. I am betting that many of you have had the same wish on several occasions as well.

TapRoot has a new software product available called WalkingHotSpot that promises to meet exactly that need. The application allows you to share the 3G Internet connection from compatible smart phones with your notebook without requiring any software be installed on the client device.

The software currently works only with smart phones running Windows Mobile or Symbian S60. TapRoot says that compatibility with more operating systems is in the works. Once installed, you can connect directly to the Internet from your notebook or other Internet device via your smart phone and surf the Web, check email and more.
