Verizon Wirless Gets BlackBerry Curve

Monday March 31, 2008

by Shane McGlaun

Verizon Wireless announced today that it is finally getting its own version of the popular BlackBerry curve smartphone. The Curve is the smallest full QWERTY BlackBerry device available at 4.2” x 2.4” x 0.6” and weighs only 4 ounces.

The Verizon phone will be available in liquid silver with chrome accents. The device will be sold through all Verizon Wireless stores starting in May for $269.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. Naturally that price requires a two-year contract.

The catch for me with BlackBerry devices is that the data plans tend to cost more than other data plans. Verizon will charge $29.99 per month for data only plans and $34.99 per month for unlimited email and Internet. I pay $19.99 a month for my unlimited iPhone data plan.

Does anyone know if Verizon will also offer the grey/black version of thr curve like sprint will?? I don’t want to get the silver one right away if the grey/black one will be offered soon! Thanks so much!
