Nokia N-Gage Service Goes Live

Monday April 7, 2008

by Shane McGlaun

Nokia announced today that its N-Gage service has officially gone live worldwide. This is the second attempt for Nokia at N-Gage with a failed N-Gage service and device from years ago. The difference with N-Gage now as compared to the previous version is that N-Gage is a service not a device.

The N-Gage platform is now a downloadable application that allows compatible devices to download and purchase mobile video games. Nokia says that there are currently over 30 titles for the N-Gage platform and that many of them are excusive.

Some of the games include FIFA 08 from EA Sports, Asphalt 3: Street Rules and The Sims 2 Pets. Compatible devices for the N-Gage service include the Nokia N81, N81 8GB, N82, N95 and N95 8GB. The N-Gage application can be downloaded now from N-Gage.com with games ranging from around $9 to $12.
