Mobile Browser Market to Grow to 1.5 Billion in 2013

Monday April 14, 2008

by Shane McGlaun

There is no doubt that the mobile Internet browser market is booming. The proliferation of smartphones with Internet browsing as a main feature has helped fuel the growth of the market. Perhaps the most important device in the recent growth of the mobile Internet has been the Apple iPhone.

The iPhone and its Safari browser have allowed mobile users to view the internet like they would from a computer rather than in a hard to read single column you see on other devices. As time goes by the mobile browsing market will only continue to grow and according to ABI Research it will grow significantly. ABI Research says that the mobile browser market will hit 1.5 billion units by 2013.

As mobile access speeds increase and more devices like the iPhone hit the market that make mobile web browsing more akin to what users see on notebook and desktop PCs there is little doubt that the market will grow.
