AT&T Pulls Website Announcement of Free Hotspot Access for iPhone

Friday May 9, 2008

by Shane McGlaun

I’m not sure what’s going on over at AT&T. Yesterday a posting was seen on its website that said it would be giving iPhone users free access to the hotspots it recently installed in Starbucks stores around the country and many more for about 17,000 total access points. That would mean for no additional charge iPhone users could surf the web in the popular coffee shop and other locations.

Today the announcement has been pulled from the AT&T website. We could assume that the access is still coming and that some wayward AT&T employee simply posted the news too soon to the company website.
