In an About.com cell phones poll that opened on July 2, 2008, hundreds of you chimed in with your purchasing intentions (or a lack thereof).
As of this post, 562 of you voted and these were the results:
- 199 people (or 35 percent) said they wouldn’t buy an iPhone 3G at all.
- 164 people (or 29 percent) said they’d buy the iPhone 3G for $199 (the cheapest price available).
- 62 people (or 11 percent) said they’d only buy the iPhone 3G if they could upgrade free.
- 56 people (or 9 percent) said they’d buy the iPhone 3G for $299.
- 48 people (or 8 percent) said they want the iPhone 3G but can’t afford it.
- 20 people (or 3 percent) didn’t know what an iPhone is.
- 7 people (or 1 percent) said they’d shell out $399 for an iPhone 3G.
- Only one person would buy an iPhone 3G for $399.
- No one would pay $499, $599 or $699.
Update: Sam Costello (the About.com guide to iPods) has his hands on an iPhone 3G now.
While he says his experience thus far has gone swimmingly, he reports that others are experiencing early activation problems. Other users have reported early glitches, too.
