Growing wireless carrier Alltel Wireless has taken a page from the social networking kings MySpace and Facebook with a new application for cell phones called MyShow.

Launched on Thursday, MyShow is the industry’s first user-generated mobile slideshow application. It’s designed for consumers to create and share personalized slideshows using photos from their mobile handsets.

MyShow is honing in on a pain point many cell phone users feel with mobile photography. MyShow hopes to be the MySpace-like answer to this common consumer question: “I’ve snapped a cool photo with my cell phone, but now what do I do with it and how do I do it?”

MyShow users – who are charged a tolerable fee of $3.99 per month – can create, browse and share all the visual moments they capture on their phone’s camera. The application automatically composes slideshows that can be personalized with text and background music.

Users can upload their slideshows to MyShow’s companion Web site and embed a MyShow widget on social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook. MyShow also allows users to view, rate and comment on slideshows created by others.
