Apple's iPhone will soon have some high-profile competition: The first smartphone to run Google's Android operating system is expected this fall. Details remain scarce, but here's a roundup of the latest rumors surrounding the first Android phone.
The New York Times is reporting that the phone will be available from T-Mobile before the holidays. Many sites are calling the smartphone the "HTC Dream," but that name hasn't been confirmed--nor have any of the phone's specs. But enthusiast sites report that the phone will have a touch screen with haptics feedback; will measure 5 inches long by 3 inches wide; and will feature a slide-out hardware keyboard in addition to an on-screen option. A video that's purported to be of the HTC Dream has been posted on YouTube.
CrunchGear is reporting that the Android phone will be avail able for presale on September 17. If that holds true, we may find out a whole lot more about this smartphone very soon.
