We're only a few days past the official release of the BlackBerry Bold smartphone, but attention already is shifting to the upcoming BlackBerry Storm. This touch-screen phone--BlackBerry's first--will be available from Verizon Wireless sometime this fall. That's what we know for sure. What we don't know is the official release date or the price. But that hasn't stopped bloggers and other smartphone enthusiasts from digging for information.
The folks at T3.com, a technology site in the UK, even managed to get their hands on a BlackBerry Storm. Check out their photo gallery to see the Storm with all its accessories.
Endgadget Mobile, meanwhile, has been looking into the price of the Storm. After reading the fine print on some Verizon Wireless promo materials, they're speculating that the retail price could be $499. That price may sound high, but that's before any rebates or discounts for signing a contract with the carrier. It may actually mean that the Storm will be cheaper than the BlackBerry Bold--or even the iPhone 3G.
And if you're willing to put down a deposit to reserve your BlackBerry Storm, head out to Best Buy. Reports say that the electronics retailer will begin taking Storm pre-orders starting November 6. You'll have to pay $50 to reserve your phone, but Best Buy employees who commented on the rumors online say the deposit is fully refundable if you change your mind.
