The $49.99 price is only valid on new-line activations or eligible upgrades with a two-year service agreement and after a $50 instant rebate and $100 mail-in rebate.
Though the Curve 8530 doesn't pack some upgraded features like a high-resolution display or world roaming (i.e. as with the BlackBerry Tour), it does make some smart improvements over the waning BlackBerry Curve 8330.
These updates include an optical trackpad, a next-generation processor and dedicated media controls. The Curve 8530 even has a big feature that the BlackBerry Tour does not: Wi-Fi for hopping online at local coffee shops and such.
The Curve 8530 also features a 2-megapixel camera, expandable memory up to 32 gigabytes, a full QWERTY keyboard, GPS for free turn-by-turn directions with Sprint Navigation, voice-activated dialing, a speakerphone, Bluetooth for short-range communications and more.
The smartphone measures in at 4.29 inches by 2.36 inches by 0.55 of an inch and weighs in at 3.9 ounces. Its display is 1.5 of an inch by 2 inches with a 320x240 screen. The Curve 8530 is rated at 5.4 hours of continuous talk time.
In addition to Sprint, the BlackBerry Curve 8530 went on sale at Verizon Wireless on Nov. 20, 2009 for $99.99 with a two-year contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate.

These phones are great and everything but for some cheaper you can buy a TracFone Holiday bundle for like 15 dollars and you can get double minutes for life! The phone is great it’s a Motorola W260-4 with a camera and the web! Just everything you could possibly need! It’s great for the holidays.
