With new pricing going live this Monday at Verizon Wireless and AT&T for unlimited cell phone plans, national wireless carrier U.S. Cellular is making changes, too.
Beginning today, U.S. Cellular has a new unlimited national individual plan for new and current users. It's $69.99 a month for unlimited voice calls. This matches the new pricing at Verizon Wireless for its unlimited individual voice plan.
U.S. Cellular is also now offering an unlimited national family plan with two lines for $119.99 per month. With this plan, customers can get up to three additional lines for $49.99 each. The carrier's new family offering also exactly matches the updated share plan at Verizon Wireless.
These new U.S. Cellular plans, though, don't take into account data usage. Also, the plans only offer incoming text and picture messaging for free.
With U.S. Cellular, an unlimited messaging plan costs $19.95 per month for individuals or $29.95 per account for up to five lines on a family plan.
U.S. Cellular charges $24.95 per month for unlimited messaging and data on its individual national plans and $49.95 per month per account for family plans on up to five lines. These plans are not available for "premium or smartphones".
Chicago-based U.S. Cellular is the nation's fifth-largest full-service wireless carrier. It serves 6.2 million customers across the country. Verizon Wireless has about 89 million customers while AT&T has about 82 million wireless customers.
