The Palm Pre and Palm Pixi have made a big enough splash at Sprint that Verizon Wireless wants in on the action, too.

The upgraded Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus will go on sale exclusively at Verizon Wireless on Jan. 25, 2010.

The Palm Pre Plus will cost $149.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate. The Palm Pixi Plus will cost $99.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate. Both smartphones require a new, two-year contract with Verizon Wireless to access that pricing.

Through Feb. 14, 2010, Verizon is offering a free Palm Pixi Plus after a mail-in rebate when you buy one Palm Pre Plus or one Palm Pixi Plus.

We learned earlier this month that the Palm Pre Plus doubles the storage capacity of the original Palm Pre from 8 to 16 gigabytes. It also features inductive (touch) charging and easier navigation.

The Palm Pixi Plus adds more color choices and Wi-Fi. New back covers for the Palm Pixi Plus cost $29.99 with Verizon Wireless and are available in pink, blue, green, orange and black.

The Palm Pre Plus and the Palm Pixi Plus both require a $29.99 monthly data plan with Verizon Wireless paired with one of its traditional monthly minute plans or a newly priced unlimited plan.

Nationwide talk plans begin at $39.99 per month with 450 anytime minutes. Nationwide talk and text plans begin at $59.99 per month with 450 anytime minutes. Nationwide unlimited talk plans and nationwide unlimited talk and text plans cost $69.99 and $89.99 per month respectively.

Nationwide unlimited family plans start at $119.99 per month for the first two lines. Nationwide unlimited talk and text family plans are $149.99 per month with the first two lines of service.
