Alltel Wireless announced on Jan. 21, 2010 the availability of the slimmer, updated and faster BlackBerry Curve 8530 to customers in the 91 markets it currently services.
The smartphone is available for $49.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and one-year contract.
The BlackBerry Curve 8530 features a full QWERTY keyboard, a trackpad for easy navigation and dedicated media keys to control your music and videos.
It also includes built-in GPS for turn-by-turn directions, stereo Bluetooth support (i.e. for a wireless headset), HTML Web browsing, a 2-megapixel camera with digital zoom and video recording, 256 megabytes of internal memory and expandable memory up to 32 gigabytes.
The BlackBerry Curve 8530 even has a big feature that the BlackBerry Tour does not: Wi-Fi for hopping online at local coffee shops and such.
At Alltel Wireless, the handset requires a qualifying Smart Choice Pack. Such plans start at $69.99 per month with unlimited data and email.
The BlackBerry Curve 8530 from Alltel and one-year contract option (rather than a typical two-year agreement) is available only to customers in the 91 cellular market areas (CMAs) that Verizon Wireless is required to divest.
These areas will continue to operate as Alltel Wireless until the sale agreements with AT&T and Atlantic Tele-Network are approved by the U.S. Department of Justice and Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Sprint released the BlackBerry Curve 8530 on Dec. 18, 2009 for $49.99 with a two-year contract and after a $50 instant rebate and $100 mail-in rebate. Verizon Wireless released the same phone on Nov. 20, 2009 for $99.99 with a two-year contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate.

have you designers ever thought about a phone that would really help senior citizens, and those with arthritis, if not you should.i Love this phone but the users guide could be made a lot easier by showing pictures with how to use the phone.also grippers on the side of the phone would be really helpful. just a thought to help past generations that helped get you guys where you are today, thank you for your time.
