Kindle Coming to Android Phones

From Liane Cassavoy, About.com GuideMay 18, 2010

Amazon's Kindle e-book reader software soon will be available for Android-based smartphones, Amazon announced today. The free application, called Kindle for Android, will be available this summer.

Free Kindle reader apps already are available for the iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, and Mac- and Windows-based computers. Like those apps, Kindle for Android will allow users to browse the more than 540,000 e-books available in the Kindle Store. Books can be downloaded for purchase, with prices starting at $9.99.

Once books are purchased, the Kindle for Android app will save and synchronize a user's bookmarks across the various Kindle apps and devices they use. That means you can start reading a book on your Motorola Droid, then find the place where you left off when you open the same book on your PC or Kindle DX device.
