Remember those rumors about the iPhone coming to T-Mobile? They're back. A new report from Cult of Mac says that there is an 80 percent chance that T-Mobile will offer the iPhone this fall.
Cult of Mac says that talks between Apple and T-Mobile are "at a very advanced stage," according to a "highly placed source at the wireless company." The blog says that its sources works at T-Mobile, but asked not to be quoted directly and to remain anonymous because he was not authorized to talk to the press.
The first round of rumors regarding T-Mobile offering the iPhone surfaced in early June, when an investment analyst said in a note to investors that Apple's iPhone would be available from a carrier other than AT&T as soon as this fall. That analyst, Shaw Wu of Kaufman Bros., said that T-Mobile would be the likely choice based on conversations with Apple's suppliers.
Since the first version of the iPhone launched in 2007, rumors have swirled about when a carrier other than AT&T would offer it. Verizon Wireless has been the carrier most often mentioned as a likely destination for Apple's smartphone, but AT&T remains, for now, at least, the exclusive carrier of the device.
