Here's How:
  1. First step is to check in your owner's manual. If you don't have yours at hand, visit the manufacturer's web site. Most of them offer online versions of their cell phone manuals.
  2. With your manual at hand, check the index for one of several key phrases: "Melody Composer", "My melodies", "Ringtone Composer".
  3. If you found it that way, congratulations, it probably means that your phone has a melody composer. All you need to do from now on is to browse our collection of free ringtones.
  4. If you didn't find it that way, then there is still a chance that your phone accepts programmable ringtones, but only through a SMS message sent to your phone over the air.
  5. To find out if it's the case, visit my manufacturer's page and browse down to your cell phone's page. The prommotional litterature should mention the possibility to download ringtones.
  6. An alternative is also to browse to your cell phone company's web site, where they also describe all the phones that they sell along with their features.
  7. Now is your cell phone a Sanyo, Kyocera, Nokia or a Motorola, then it can receive programmable ringtones for free (See free ringtones, except if it's and iDEN Motorola phone.
  8. If it's another brand, such as Sprint PCS, Samsung or LG, for instance, you will quite likely need to resort to using your cell phone company's paid service. Bummer!
