"A Nicely Featured World Phone"
The Samsung SGH-R225m, offered by Voicestream, works both in Europe and North-America, which makes it an interesting urban traveler cell phone. It also features a good ringtone composer with 2 user-customizable ringtones (and 3 downloadable), good organizer features (including a scheduler with a full one month view, AOL instant messaging and graphical games such as Casino (a slut machine) and Mole (a catch-the-gopher kind of game): nice pastimes but no gaming nirvana. Additionally, the r225m supports AOL instant messaging, for you to remain in contact even on the road. I don't understand why Samsung made a phone that works worldwide but did not also include GPRS wireless data connectivity, a feature now offered by most GSM companies, and allowing for nice WAP and Internet connections, a real plus for travelers. They also elected not to include infrared connectivity, a feature that can help wireless data connectivity and easy transfer of one's phone book information without the need to purchase a data cable. Clearly, it seems like this phone is aimed at young active people who don't conduct technologically intensive business but need efficient and stylish communications. Let's say: designers, managers, actors, and artists in general. Other young persons who don't travel that much but go out a lot should like it too.
