"Small and cutie" This phone is one in a series of phones designed by LG Electronics for Sprint and sold under the Sprint PCS Touchpoint brand. And with the TP5200, LG shows that it is almost as innovative as Sanyo was with the recent SCP-5000 and SCP-6000, with the possibility to use MIDI polyphonic ringtones. However, Sprint's ringtone strategy isn't clear yet. In fact, they claim that this phone can be upgraded with MIDI ringtones but there are no instructions about it so far so I wouldn't buy that phone for its programmable ringtones feature. Its main advantage is really its size, looks and well balanced features. It even includes a good Mario Bros-like action game. On the down side, some may find the sound quality to be bad with the Sprint TP5200. At least, one user of this web site mentioned that to me and when she returned it, the clerk told her that some other customers also returned the TP5200 for the same sound quality issue. I was also frustrated by that phone's navigation system, that is laborious. For example, if you want to quickly dial the last called number, you first have to go through call history, specify "Incoming" or "Outgoing" calls, then select the last called number, then select an option to call it. It gets on your nerves! However, an About.com user mentioned me that there are numerous shortcuts that help navigation, if you are willing to learn them, so this problem is not a huge one. | |
