Review Title: Verison XV6600 Working Better Now! (by Milspec) - 11/06/2005

    Ratings for the following topics:
  • - Sound Quality
  • - Speakerphone
  • - Ringtone Volume
  • - Strength of Signal Reception
  • - Keypad
  • - Display
  • - Selection of Features
  • - Text Messaging
  • - Camera

Pros: Verison broadband Internet works great, PDA runs Pocket PC software, tons of features, camera has video and sound - with flashlite, phone works fine for me
Cons: Low battery life, locks up occasionally, standard sounds are too quiet, Jabra bluetooth headset has static
Additional Comments: Verison Internet is true broadband but costs $50 per month. Get the extended life battery for 60% more power. Phone will charge from USB port so you can leave the power cord at home. Get the car charger. Phone worked better after ROM upgrade from Audiovox site. Download louder ringers or make your own using the record function. It will use most any sound file as a ringer/notification. Camera has good video and sound quality although the flash isn't very bright. Can crop, adjust, and send/email photos and movies just like a PC. The large screen is great for watching videos. Takes any size SD memory card - I can fit two DVD movies on my 1.0 GB and still have room for some MP3's. Can be used as a PC Internet modem (don't tell Verison). Doesn't have WiFi but who cares? The Verision Internet works wherever I go. Locks up occasionally like all Pocket PC's - just reset and everything's fine. Download a memory manager to help with this - I use DS. I also use AgileMessenger to send and receive IM's - works with Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, AOL, XMPP. If you don't mind the size, it's the best Internet access PDA phone I've seen so far. :)

  • Review Title: Great PDA Phone with Bad Sound & Volume (by DMZ) - 08/17/2005

    Ratings for the following topics:
  • - Sound Quality
  • - Speakerphone
  • - Ringtone Volume
  • - Strength of Signal Reception
  • - Keypad
  • - Display
  • - Selection of Features
  • - Text Messaging
  • - Camera

Pros: Everything Except Sound Volume & Quality
Cons: Sound Volume & Quality, Battery Life Fair at Best
Additional Comments: Bluetooth headset volume is so low it's pitiful! Also, once you use a BT headset, you may have to do a soft reset in order to have any audible sound from the speaker or a wired headset again. Took same BT headset and paired it to a friend's Samsung i730. It almost blew my ear off. Downloaded WAV file ringtone from my previous Samsung i700. Made bit of a diffference, but not all that much. Audiovox's tech support admits to these issues and claim a software fix is on the way........yet that's been for 3 months now and they have no ETA as to when it'll be available. It's a shame because sound/volume issues aside, it s really a nice PDA phone.
