If you are a frequent BlackBerry user, personalizing your device not only makes it more fun to use, but it can also make you more efficient. In addition to changing your wallpaper and your theme, changing your ringtone differentiates you from other BlackBerry users, and shows the world a little bit of your personality.

Have you ever been in a crowded room and witnessed half of the people reach for their phone when they hear the generic AT&T ringtone? It's amusing to watch, but is not nearly as funny if you are one of the people reaching for your device at that very minute. If you change your ringtone, it will be easier for you to hear your BlackBerry ring even when you're in a crowded place.

To change your ringtone:

  1. Click on Options, and then choose Sounds and Ring Tones.
  2. Choose Phone Ring Tone.
  3. Click on the drop-down menu next to Ring Tone, and scroll through the ring tones on the list. Every time you pause on a tone, you will hear a sample.
  4. If you do not find a ring tone you like, click on All Music (including MP3s) to choose from the music files saved on your BlackBerry, choose All Voice Notes to choose from a voice note you have recorded, or choose All Alerts to see a full list of the alert tones installed on your BlackBerry.
  5. Once you have chosen a ring tone, adjust the Volume, Alerts, and Tactile Alerts, and then Save your settings.

Once you change your ringtone, you will be able to identify your phone's ring in a crowd, and it will be much easier to find if you misplace it. If you take a few minutes to follow these easy instructions, you can make your BlackBerry far less generic and impersonal.
