Google Mobile is a universal search tool, which allows you to search both the Web and your BlackBerry's contents. It also acts as a gateway to other Google applications. Google recently updated Google Mobile for BlackBerry to version 3.8.22, and this update allows you to search your Gmail directly from the application.
Searching with Google Mobile
When you enter your search string, Google Mobile provides you with a list of hits from the search engine. Auto-complete is also enabled, so if you can't remember exactly what you need to find, Google will help you out. Above your search results, there are links to results from Phone and Gmail & Docs.
Since Gmail provides quite a bit of storage, the ability to search your Gmail account from Google Mobile is a great addition for BlackBerry users. Saving all of the incoming mail from your Gmail account on your BlackBerry is not practical, and now you don't have to. If you have an older BlackBerry that does not have a lot of storage, you can now find any Gmail message you want. You do not have to worry about saving all of your important messages before they get automatically purged from your BlackBerry.
Google Mobile is Location Aware
Google Mobile, like most search applications, is now location aware. When you search for businesses, the application will provide you results in your area. Although the interface is much more utilitarian than other location aware search applications like Poynt, its ability to search the both the web and your device at the same time is a major time saver.
Quick Access to Google Apps and Services
Clicking on the Apps button from the main screen displays a list of Google apps and services. If you click any of the available links, you will be taken to the mobile version of application in the BlackBerry Web browser. If you have Google Sync or Google Maps installed, Google Mobile will launch the application for you, which really makes Google Mobile a hub for all things Google on your BlackBerry.
