HSCSD establishes a permanent connection to the data network, which makes it more suitable for applications such as video-conferencing than GPRS, another high speed data technology. HSCSD delivers speeds of 38.4 to 57.6 Kbps, slightly more than what can be achieved with a regular fixed telephone system modem.
