Definition: The de facto standard for transfering wireless web pages to cell phones and displaying them on small screens. In order to be WAP enabled, a cell phone must comprise a WAP browser capable of reading and displaying web pages coded in &WML&, one of the wireless equivalents to &HTML&, the markup language used in most pages on the regular World Wide Web. Successfully used and widespread in Europe, WAP is being increasingly adopted globally.
