Question: I just entered a ringtone in my phone using Uniring and it does not work, why?
Answer: First of all, most people who email me about a converted ringtone not working would have been successful if they did read the instructions before using a Uniring result in a rush. Here are a couple of things that you should look at:
1- If you selected a &keypress& format (by opposition to a ringtone sent by SMS), did you read the instructions on how to use a keypress ringtone? This solves most problems:
2- Are you sure that your phone has a melody composer? I've heard stories of people punching the keypress ringtone directly from the standby screen of their phones.
3- Have you tried both formats for a single brand? For instance, some Samsung phones use the &Samsung I& while others use the &Samsung II& format. Some Motorola phones need to receive ringtones by SMS while others can have it entered directly in the cell phone using a built-in melody composer.
4- Are you sure that the original ringtone that you used for the conversion is a proper Nokia Composer or Nokring RTTTL ringtone? In most cases, this is the problem as I've seen all sorts of bad shape ringtones being put in Uniring. Uniring was designed to use Nokring/RTTTL format ringtones but it can also use &Nokia composer& ringtones. If you used Nokia Composer ringtones, make sure that it was not the actual keypress sequence, but what the phone displays. That's what Uniring really can handle.
