Palm's been touting the ability to sync with iTunes as a selling point for its Palm Pre. And for good reason: Syncing your Palm Pre smartphone with iTunes can be a really handy way to transfer music and photos to your phone.
But this feature has caused plenty of controversy. Apple doesn't like Palm using its software, and so updated iTunes to take away the Pre's syncing capabilities. Palm then fought back with a webOS update that restored the syncing capabilities.
This guide will walk you through the process of syncing your Palm Pre with your iTunes software -- provided the capability still exists!
Before you begin, you'll need iTunes installed on your computer. Normally, before you begin using iTunes, I'd recommend that you check for the latest version. If you're looking to sync your Pre, though, you might want to hold off on updating iTunes. Depending on what version you're running, syncing your Pre may or may not be allowed, as Apple could update iTunes again to revoke the Pre's syncing privileges at any time. So before you update iTunes, look for news on the Apple-Palm feud.
Once you have the right version of iTunes, you'll need to connect your Palm Pre to your computer using the USB cord that came with the phone.
Open iTunes on your computer.
