A touchscreen is a visual display that acts as an input device, by responding to the touch of a user's fingers, hand, or an input device such as a stylus.
The touchscreens found on cell phones are smartphones are typically either capacitive touchscreens or resistive touchscreens. Capacitive touchscreens use the electrical properties of a human body to detect a touch, and usually cannot be controlled by a device such as a stylus. Resistive touchscreens, meanwhile, respond to pressure applied to them.
