When seeking a quality ringtone vendor for your cell phone, a low price and a large selection will likely be your top two necessities. Then there’s quality, ease of use and more. This ringtone vendor review analyzes RingToneJukeBox.com, which satisfies on selection but causes concern on price.
While RingToneJukeBox.com doesn’t list how many ringtones it offers, it says it “pays all appropriate royalties to artists through mechanical licensing agreements” with more than “100 music publishers and performance licensing agreements with ASCAP, BMI and SESAC”.

RingToneJukeBox.com, which is owned and operated by Denver-based 9 Squared, Inc., claims it is the “No. 1 Web site for ringtones, games and wallpapers” in the U.S. This claim is not backed up or audited.

The site does score in its large offering of a wide array of ringtones (many from real songs), “FlixTones” (or sounds from movies), polytones (several notes at a time), sound effects and voice ringers.

The vendor has its ringtones organized in many categories including alternative, country, dance, folk, hot hits, latin pop, metal, oldies, rock and many more. You can listen to a teaser before you buy, too.

But the cost? Ah, the cost. This is where RingToneJukeBox.com can get pricey for you.

While some ringtone vendors offer free ringtones and others offer unlimited downloads for one low fee, this site charges for all its ringtones at prices that are among the most expensive on the Web.
All ringtones are priced at $2.99 each and polytones cost $1.99 each. Many other paid ringtone vendors that charge per ringtone price out at $0.99 or $1.99 each and reserve the $2.99 price for especially “premium” content.

While its pricing wouldn’t give you the feeling that there’d be any hidden fees, neither will it likely give you the sense that its sounds are affordable now or in the future. That said, the vendor does offer many ways to pay. T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and AT&T users only can use its direct bill option for payment.

RingToneJukeBox.com says other carriers may allow you to use your debit card or credit card or even PayPal to make a ringtone payment. You can also order by text message (or “premium SMS”) and have the fee added to your regular cell phone bill.

On the ringtone compatibility front, RingToneJukeBox.com has you covered. You can easily test your phone first for compatibility with ringtones and polytones. The site then promises compatibility on a very large list of cell phones and a wide array of the major and smaller cell phone service carriers.

The Bottom Line

While this vendor impresses in terms of its selection and compatibility, its high pricing can be enough of a turn off for many to move on to another choice. Lowering its pricing would do wonders for this site.
