Wireless Roaming Policy for T-Mobile

Does T-Mobile charge for domestic roaming or is it free?

U.S. wireless roaming comes with some data limitations on the T-Mobile network. While T-Mobile does not charge extra when users roam outside of its network, it does impose limits on data usage. Specifically, most postpaid T-Mobile plans have 200 MB of roaming data per billing cycle.

The specific plans for which this policy applies include all Magenta plans, T-Mobile Essentials, ONE Plan, or a Simple Choice plan activated after November 15, 2015, as well as voice and mobile internet. Domestic roaming eligibility varies for prepaid plans and postpaid plans activated before November 15, 2015.

Data Roaming

Data roaming is available to you as a convenience when you are out of reach of the T-Mobile network. It is not designed to be the primary source of your data coverage. T-Mobile limits the amount of data you can use while you are roaming, depending on your plan's allowance. You can monitor your roaming usage online at My T-Mobile.

T-Mobile Global Roaming

T-Mobile's Magenta, ONE Plan, and Simple Choice plans give you unlimited roaming data at 2G speeds and voice calls for $0.25 per minute. This includes unlimited SMS texting in more than 210 countries. Check the T-Mobile website to see if your destination is on the list.

If you can't live with the 2G speed, you can add add an international day pass.

Anyone with a T-Mobile plan gets free Wi-Fi calling to the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

The fee for other international calls placed from the U.S. is the International Rate plus standard airtime rates.
